I just purchased this yesterday to replace my Harmony 900 (I want to use Alexa/Echo voice control). During setup i was able to bypass the 8 device limit, when i got everything setup and started to configure the HUB using the Desktop Software, not the APP (I am using the APP on an older Ipad 2, so i had to use the Desktop to setup the HUB). I am not sure if it will work if you setup using the app but with the Desktop version of MyHarmony software it worked. My harmony 900 allows 15 devices to be controlled, when i was asked if i wanted to copy the settings of my 900 to the Hub i said yes and it copied all 15 devices and all the Activities i setup. It works great, just don't remove any of the devices because you wont be able to add them back individually, it will tell you you have reached the max devices. So if you accidentally remove an item, you can just run the Setup process over again. Hope this helps anyone who needs a couple more Devices added without having to spend the extra money on the more Costly HUB Combo.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Unfortunately yes. The device limit applies to the hub, so it doesn't matter if you use the simple remote, the app or Alexa. The limit still applies.

And you are limited to controlling 8 devices with this. However, direct integration "Alexa, Turn on TV" only works to do just that - turn on equipment for specific purpose (like "watch a movie" to turn on tv/receiver/bluray or "turn on fire stick" to turn on tv/receiver/fire stick and go to right input). Extra Alexa Skill app allows you to say "Alexa, tell Harmony to..." and then adds only 4-5 more commands. That's it. No ability to create custom commands which is what i was expecting.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Harmony Hub only allows 8 entertainment devices per hub, but also allows you to add home devices such as Hue LIghts. I only use the Amazon echo to control my hub. And of course, the echo can control those home devices like hue lights directly anyway. I bought a second hub for my other TV. One limitation I found is that the Amazon Echo only supports one hub at a time. There are workarounds though (like assign one hub to one echo/amazon account and another hub to another amazon echo account). Or using IFTTT instead. IFTTT though has a much longer latency though so when you ask IFTT to trigger your second hub it takes a noticable amount of extra time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. With this model it is 8 devices
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, there is a limit to how many components can be controlled.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't see any limitation in the specs. All software has limits. It is the nature of the beast. Since they say unlimited activities in the marketing material, I would assume the limit is a large number. Software boundaries/limits are usually a power of 2. I would assume the lowest limit would be 256 (2 to the 8th) but usually variables limits are ~2 billion. You can try to contact Harmony support. They have been really responsive to me when I had questions. I actually had a question on how to get my new LG TV to go directly to Netflix instead of bringing up the app selection screen. They pointed me to the documentation and also changed my setting for me. I just had to re-sync the remote and everything just worked. Their support is some of the best in the industry.
