Yes! Magnets keep the case shut during periods of non-use. Magnets also support the tablet when you are using the keyboard. Very strong and secure. Mine has never slpiped out of place after several months of use.

No there is some kind of adhesive that keeps the tablet in place. Surprisingly it works well.
