“Must the USB dongle be plugged into the PC or can it work directly with the PC's bluetooth?”

As far as I know, yes. The dongle has to be plugged in.

No , I think the usb must be plug-in , doesn’t give a option to just Bluetooth and if you take usb out the mouse won’t work

this is not a bluetooth mouse. it is wireless with a dongle that is included. must be plugged in.

Yes, you must use the nano receiver that plugs into your computer in order for this mouse to work.
