• I don't use a mouse pad. I usually use it on the kitchen table or a card table.

• I use it on many different surfaces including the wooden table top, formica counter top, cotton place mats, couch cushions, laptop surface and even my pant leg. Hope this helps. Deebs

• No it does not require a mousepad. I use mine without a mousepad and it works perfect.
