Yes, you need to connect with the USB that is included.

Yes, it is 100 wireless but you need to connect it to the USB otherwise will not work. If you do not want to connect the mouse to the USB I think you need a Bluetooth mouse that pairs with the computer, I tried one before but It gets disconnect constantly.
