The current Logitech Unifying receivers can work with up to six Logitech keyboards and mice. For example for testing purposes I had a M325 and M510 mouse paired at the same time. They both worked at the same time also. Any Unifying receiver will work with any current Logitech keyboard or mouse. That allows you to buy a replacement Unifying receivers if the one you have fails.

The receiver that is used with the MK540 is the Unifying Receiver which can connect up to 6 compatible keyboards and mice. That being said, get a Logitech mouse that uses the Unifying Receiver and it will pair to your original USB receiver. Here's a list of mice that use the Unifying Receiver: https://www.logitech.com/en-us/products/mice.html?filters=bluetooth-%2B-unifying-usb-receiver. - Richard from Logitech
