• Yes. They can be programmed to any keystroke.

• There's an option to configure a button to replicate a keystroke. Not sure if you can limit it to a single key or if it's meant as a way to configure a macro (simplify multiple keystrokes into a single button press).

• Yes, Check out the documentation for the Logitech Options software. This is the software provided with the trackball. Has quite a bit of remapping capability.
