• Do you mean your battery has been charged so many time it now won't hold a charge? There are replacement batteries. If you mean this is your first time charging the battery, then all other answers are correct. You plug it in to charge it up.

• When the battery fails, which mine did after 2 years, the mouse is essentially dead. You need two specialized tools, good eyes, and good dexterity to replace the battery. The cost of the battery, tools and time is more than cost of new mouse.
