“Can I plug a 3.5mm aux cable into the headset, and than into the 3.5mm port on Xbox one X controller to use these with Xbox? or will that not work? Only want to use them for chat, not full game audio”

Yes you can do that and you can get the turtle beach adapter to customize the headset
