Hi Musician, the keyboard part of this Folio connects via Bluetooth. So it is feasible to do what you are describing. I would also recommend looking at just a Bluetooth keyboard without the case since you have a case that you already like. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. The way it acts the keyboard is activated when the iPad is placed in the groove just above the keys. The magnetic connection between the keyboard and the iPad seems to be needed for the keyboard to function.
