I would install an antivirus/malware on it. It does have built in protection, but apple's security is slower at keeping up to date on most recent threats than pretty much everyone out there. I like what my company use, as long as Apple update don't break it (while apple updates tend to do lately). Keeping up with the latest threats out there, there are more and more out there that infect MAC OS, and trust me.. its much more difficult fixing an infected MAC. Oh, you didn't ask, but I am going mention this. and this is true for any platform you use. BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP. If your work is important to you, have your work saved more than one location. You can not recover the data off of your MAC if something happens to it. Personally I save to a cloud location, network location, and on a NAS. Never rely on thumb disks for long term storage.
