I have a Logitech and turning off backlighting greatly extends the battery life, but there is no Touch ID in the Logitech. Does the Apple Magic keyboard have key backlighting? Can it be enabled/disabled as needed?

The Apple Magic Keyboard has no backlighting for the keys, unfortunately. Maybe some day. Certainly would think so for the price!

NO backlighting... 
But you need an Apple device with an M processor. No Intel processors.

As expensive as this new keyboard is it really doesnt bring much new to the table. No backlight, a bit uncomfortable if youre used to using logitech gear

It does not have backlighting. Wish it did, but it is not an option in this magic keyboard.
