• A:Answer The Magic Keyboard comes with new Macs but it also works with old Macs, and with iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. It connects over Bluetooth, so you can pair it with anything and everything that supports that standard, but Apple's also made it pair instantly over Lightning with the Mac, making it faster and easier to get started than ever. You do need a new M1 or later apple chip for the sensor key to work.

• A:Answer It means that the full function of the keyboard only works with Apple Silicon macs. I just bought it, connected it to my 2017 Intel MacBook Pro, and the keyboard works great. The only function of the keyboard that doesn't work with non-Apple Silicon macs is the Touch ID built into the keyboard.

Q: QuestionI have a Logitech and turning off backlighting greatly extends the battery life, but there is no Touch ID in the Logitech. Does the Apple Magic keyboard have key backlighting? Can it be enabled/disabled as needed? Thanks

Q: QuestionI have a Macbook 13' 2020 model with touch ID and touch bar. Will the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad for Mac models with Apple silicon be fully functional including the touch ID feature with my Macbook?

• A:Answer I purchased a TouchID keyboard to use with the new 16" MBP that has TouchID. While the answer is yes, the keyboard will work with any Apple Silicon Mac that supports TouchID, I have found some apps do not support TouchID with the lid closed. I have a password manager that falls into this category, that works when the lid is open, but not closed. When I contacted the author, I was told I have to wait for a new version that will have this support. Something to be aware of.
