Yes the manfrotto 290 will support a digital camera with a 600 mm lens, I have a Nikon d500 and I have a few lenses that way between 3 and 5 pounds my Nikon camera weighs just over 2 lb. One thing I recommend that I have that I use with my manfrotto 290 is a cradle type mounted onto the top of the tripod so when you have a substantial camera and lens it will allow you to Pivot the camera up and down in side to side which when doing animal photography it's the best way to go. I recommend on YouTube the gentleman who is on Amazing photographer and when it comes to doing any type of photography and the equipment he has videos that instruct you how to use it and he has videos that have great tips on how to do different types of photography. His name is Steve Perry. He is one of the most knowledgeable photographers out there.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It can support the weight, but of course that shouldn't be your only consideration. At such longer focal lengths, stability is key. I'd recommend not extending the last (narrowest) section of the legs and keeping the center at its lowest position. This will give you a tripod height of about 34 inches. If you need more height, spend more money on something more suitable for your requirements.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, but for my experience you still need some steady hands if you want some smooth footage, but it can hold it with no issues
