The chassis is made of gold, very hefty. CD playback has no vibrations due to this feature, other players vibrate too much due to cheap plastic construction and lack of gold.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Marantz CD6007 is only $799.00 which is cheap compared to this player. The CD6007 also has really great reviews. I imagine it's a great player. If you step up to the ND8006 you get a CD player + fully integrated streamer + DAC for around $1,500 which isn't cheap but is still a LOT cheaper than this player.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You want a SACD player that’s why it is so expensive. If you can live without a SACD player I would recommend you check out the Denon line of cd players.

Marantz is the reference to which we among the unwashed masses can only dream about. They've been around since the 50's, beginning with vacuum tube amplifiers & preamps. I assume you're looking at the Marantz ND8006 which lists for $1,199+. given everything it can do, which includes functioning as preamp and a number of music formats. It also supports high-def (typically 24-bit) formats such as WAV, FLAC, ALAC and others. If you've never experienced 24-bit audio, you'd find that the sound is so amazingly present that it's like being in the same room with the musicians, though you might not notice a significant difference with electronic music. So if I had the money, yeah, I'd consider the Marantz ND8006.
