Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.All 3DS games work on the entire line of 3DS devices, 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, etc. 3DS is even backwards compatible with the old original DS games. If you have the old original DS (non 3DS line), that can only play regular DS games. Hope that makes sense.

Please try again later.All games are compatible across the entire 3DS family, EXCEPT for games clearly marked as ‘“new” 3DS’ only - the only 3 I can think of off the top of my head are are Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, Fire Emblem Warriors. and MineCraft, new 3DS Edition. There are also a few digital games in the eShop that require a “new” 3DS. In either case it’s only a small handful, and the packaging at retail is clearly marked,

Only a few games specially designed for the "new 3DS" or "new 2DS XL" won't work on the older models, but the boxes are usually well labeled, and it's only like three games with that distinction.
