I was concerned about the value of the Maytag brand as well. I don't think the Maytag branded products of today can hold a candle to the Maytag washers and dryers I remember growing up with (I'm a baby boomer). In those days, Maytag made two things well: washers & dryers. I'm not sure if that company exists in any form today. What I do know about this Maytag branded product is that it is designed and assembled by Whirlpool Corporation in Benton Harbor, Michigan, USA! Whirlpool marketed one of the first HE top loading washing machines back around Y2K called the "Calypso" I owned the Kenmore Elite version of the Whirlpool design and had it for over 10 years with no major issues. If this Maytag is actually a Whirlpool design, that's fine with me. I hope this answer was helpful.
