“At the end of the auto dry cycle, is it better to let the timer shut off on its own (wrinkle prevent section) or should you turn the knob to off? Since there is so much tension to turn the knob thought it would extend the life if it times off on its own.”

Since, the tension is there when setting timer to start drying cycle, there shouldn’t be an issue with forwarding timer dial to the end once dryer stops automatically.
