“Can some one recommend an external hard drive that they are presently using, and works well with the Mediasonic. I'm presently looking at the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB. Also, can the Mediasonic power a USB powered external drive?”

You have to format it first (OTADVR does it for you) but it should work just fine. Mine is a cheaper 1 TB hard drive. You will have plenty of recording space. Make sure to change to daylight savings on/off depending on the time of year. Also, in the formatting section it will tell you how much space you have left. If you need to clear space either delete one by one (super longer) or just format the whole thing and free up space 100% (super fast). Love this unit!
