I don’t know about the first part of your question since I have never tried it. The unit has one tuner, therefore you cannot watch and record two different shows at the same time. You can watch another show on your TV while recording on Homeworx if you connect the unit to your TV by attaching a coaxial cable to the RF Out and to the Antenna input on your TV. You set the RF output to “Loop”. The EPG information comes from the stations and is for twenty-hours at most. I use “Titan TV” for program schedules (goes out two weeks) and then use the Timer option to set recordings. I have not had any problems with any recordings that I have done to date.

I can go up or down channels until I hit one that says recording. When I channel back to the channel that is recording, it will not have the information at the bottom like the others. I record to a 64gb thumb drive and when I play back there is nothing missing from the recorded show. Hope this helps.
