You need wired earbuds because there is no built-in speaker. I tried a cheaper brand, which has the same basic design, but it didn't have the same clarity of sound. Yours appears much sturdier and user-friendly (more clearly marked). I converted Wave files to mp3s or 4s before burning the CD. It played properly with quality sound.
