• it's a tiny bit different it's ac 2100 and has triband. that's the difference. triband is only on the big ones and so that triband gives you a much faster speed if you're in the same room.

• I don't believe the beacons were offered 1st generation. 2nd generation has an additional band the units use to transmit the data. By having this eliminates issues with data transfer. I wouldn't buy.anything but 2nd generation.hope this helps
