“Do we still need a cable provider for internet? We're eliminating tv portion of cable & going with YouTube TV, Netflix etc & digital antenna. Spectrum still wants $80/mnth for internet connection. Would love to eliminate them altogether. Suggestions?”

Yes you do need internet and this router is geared for you plugging in your internet provider in to it.
