The eero and eero Beacons are all essentially "routers". You will need one eero close to your modem (it will plug directly into your modem), and then you can spread the beacons out through your home. I think maybe you were asking if you also need a beacon next to your modem, as well? If so, the answer is no...just the full sized eero needs to be there. And to you answer your second question, they sell individual beacons for $149. Sorry if I misunderstood your question, but I hope I helped!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The main unit (the larger one) is meant to either be paired with a modem, or to replace the router function of your gateway (modem/router combo). The beacon is meant to be plugged into an outlet a bit further away (but for best results within 40 of the main Eero unit) to expand the coverage through out your home. You can buy an additionally beacon separately from Eero's website for $149, or purchase the bundle that includes one Eero and 2-beacons instead for $399.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, the router itself works as the wifi beacon of the room where you have it set up. The other beacons just extend your wifi coverage without losing speed
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No it doesn’t need to be in line of sight. The beacons aren’t too salty but they are a nice add on.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have my modem going to a switch in the basement and then a cable to the main wifi node... the other wifi node picks off of the main.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
