• Yes, you can stream Netflix movies and YouTube videos, they will look like you are in a movie theater. I haven't seen any video call applications yet.

• Netflix and movies yes. Video calls no. A VR headset hides your face. You can meet in a virtual space though. You can also make regular calls through Facebook messenger.
