Need? No. Are there other apps and features available if you connect it to a PC? Yes...but you need to buy a link cable to do that.

No, you can download and play games, watch videos, etc straight from the headset. But you have the option of streaming PC VR content to the headset over a USB-C cable or using an AC/AX wireless network.
