No this should not fit your 98 explore the one for the 98 Explorer is usually to pieces the speaker and the power wires are separated typically in that era though both wire into the radio plug and then Will plug in to the factory wiring harnesses. This part will definitely be available at Best Buy would you have to make sure in specify which vehicle it is and more specifically which radio. Could probably find it in a junkyard on a nineties model Ford Ranger or Mazda B series if that's in your area

Double check your vehicle plug with the product pictures on Metra’s website. Your aftermarket stereo should come with a brand specific harness that plugs into the stereo and will have bare wires on the other end. This harness adapter will plug directly into the vehicle and have bare wires on the other end. The bare wires of both the harness and adapter will need to be connected (butt splice, solder, etc), and both connectors plugged in to both the vehicle and the stereo.
