Yes it will be compatible. Microsoft said during E3 that it will be compatible with project scarlet. I do not know if it will be compatible on launch of the scarlet but it probably will be compatible at launch.

If it lasts that long mine broke after 2 months. It will. But judging on how poor this controller has been rolled out I do not have high hopes for project X.
