I don't think your batteries are the problem, unless you couldn't get the keyboard to turn on at all. I would guess your keyboard went to sleep (idle) and you were unable to get it to connect to your computer, so you thought the batteries were drained. I am having a similar problem. I have to delete the keyboard from BT and re-pair to get it to work.
