The keyboard's plate is made of a synthetic microfiber poly material called "Alcantara", it looks and feels like suede but isn't. It is more moisture resistant. Best Buy associates tell you it is stain-resistant, but it isn't. The oils from wrists and palms will build up so the material will need to be cleaned every now and again, you can purchase a special cleaner for this material from Amazon.
