A lot of software vendors are writing ARM versions of their most popular programs so I would expect as more and more manufacturers release ARM based Windows devices you'll see compatibility become a non-issue. Until then, it's important to consider whether you need X86 or if ARM will suffice. The Snapdragon X Elite chip offers incredible performance with amazing battery life. The only drawback is that you might encounter some compatibility issues as Windows for ARM grows. Microsoft, Dell, Samsung, Lenovo, and more are all offering ARM based Windows devices. As these hit the market more and more software will be native to ARM.
