Yes - when travelling, I leave my laptop at home. This surface runs Excel, Word, OneNote and even a high end statistical package like SPSS without batting an eye. I use it both at work and at school. The screen is so sharp that I can multi - task on a plane with a spreadsheet on one side of the screen and a word document on the other side. Also, if you buy the J5 Create mini-docking station, you can set up 2 full screen monitors plus the surface for a 3 screen experience.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Absolutely it can do it, I use it daily for just those tasks. I also do Viso and AutoCAD, so it has sufficient power to do it. I love it for it’s portability- I can put the power cord and an ARC mouse in my pocket and carry the surface pro with keyboard like it was a pad of paper.
