- Answer Surface Pro is a laptop replacement, the Samsung is a media consumption device and will not handle things such as installing software (other than from an app store).

- Answer Hey there. Thanks for reaching out. To add to what has already been posted, Surface Pro is a laptop in tablet form. It runs the full desktop version of Windows 8 Pro and thus supports software compatible with Windows 8. If you have a particular program in mind, I recommend checking with the software developer for details on compatibility and minimum hardware requirements. I hope this is helpful to you. - Answer Hello Freddy. Thanks for your post. To add to what has already been mentioned, Surface Pro includes the following ports: full-size USB 3.0, microSDXC card slot, headset jack, Mini DisplayPort and Cover port. There is an Ethernet adapter that connects via USB and allows you to connect to a network when Wi-Fi is not available. I hope this is helpful to you. Please have a nice day.

QuestionDoes the keyboard have to be connected to type.Sometimes I find it helpful with my ipad, to leave the ipad on my desk and type on my separate bluetooth keyboard on my lap. All the commercials I have seen for the surface show people typing on the keyboard cover while it is connected physically to the tablet. Can you still type on the keyboard cover via bluetooth while it is physically separated from the tablet portion?

- Answer In order to use either the touch or type keyboard, it must be physically connected (attached) to the tablet.

- Answer With the RT version you will be restricted to whatever browsers are on the app store. If and when Firefox makes a Surface RT version of the browser you can. Surface Pro is really a computer so yes you can use whatever browser you want. I have Firefox and Chrome on my Pro and they work just as well as on my desktop computer. Think of the Surface RT as an iPad in that you can only install and use applications that are made for it. RT is the same way, but instead of using the Apple app store, you are using Microsoft's version.

- Answer You can install them via cd and external drive. I have adobe photoshop elements on my surface pro. You can download elements 12 via microsoft store but you have to purchase them on adobe website in a download form.

- Answer I would probably uninstall defender if you are installing Norton. If you are safe in your web surfing and email, windows defender might do fine for you. Norton seems to be a decent product. I use the version Comcast includes on 4 of my PC's/laptop at home & it has done well. I also use the plain Norton Antivirus on our PC's at work and seem to have no issues.

- Answer Microsoft Excel works really well on the Surface. You can pinch-zoom, pan, and select just by tapping. The capacitive pen also gives you "inking" capabilities when you bring it close to the surface, letting you do things like circle in red areas on the spreadsheet.

QuestionSql Server and Visual Studio RevisitedHopefully the folks providing answers here will see this and add it to their fact lists: I asked the question regarding these two programs about 2 days ago and received 2 answers. One saying that SQL Server "might" run, but VS probably wouldn't download. The other from a Microsoft Team member telling me to check the developers specs on both programs (the developer being Microsoft: ironic? You decide!). Based on this I had pretty much decided to turn away from the Pro and forget about it, though I couldn't understand why the specs on this tablet wouldn't support the programs listed (esp when it's advertised as "laptop capability"). Luckily I decided to do some searching of my own and within MINUTES had examples of users running BOTH programs no problem: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/d48ea7cc-c6b6-4622-8a84-67cfe4db1cce/visual-studio-on-surface-pro http://www.davidklee.net/2013/03/05/sql-server-2012-on-microsoft-surface-pro/ Those are just two of about 10 hits on the subject, all with positive results. Sorry answer guys but you completely missed the boat on this one!

- Answer I promptly loaded VS2012 (with SQL) on my surface shortly after I got it without even thinking it may not work. This is truly a full computer in a tablet's form.

- Answer Hi there. Thank you for your inquiry. Surface Pro runs the programs you’ve been using with Windows 7 and supports software compatible with Windows 8. I recommend checking out the minimum system hardware requirements for the ADP Etime program you are interested in using.
