The USB-c port will not provide any internal tablet charging, but will provide low amp output. I've read ratings between 1.2 & 3 Amp, but until I get and official rating from Microsoft themselves I'd not pretend to put a number to it. It too am broken hearted that they did not include USB c charging on this or the Pro X.
