“How do i know what windows product to purchase. I had windows 10 pro but cant locate product key. the darn thing wont upgrade with original product key do i have to repurchase it.”

There are free utility programs available that will find your Product Key for you. One I have used many times is called "The Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder". It is a freeware utility that retrieves from your Registry the Product Key (cd key) that was used to install Windows. Good luck.
