• Yes, this controller has an audio jack. You only need the adapter for older controllers without audio jacks.

• It has a 3.5 mm jack input like most of the newer model Xbox controllers so no adapter would be needed. However, some people have reported problems when using the controllers jack. Therefore, adapters are unfortunately still the best option but not mandatory. Hope this helps.
