• The 12-month subscription only begins when you ACTIVATE the card. I typically keep some extra cards on-hand in order to help ensure that I don't let my XBox Live membership expire unexpectedly.

• The 12 months don't start when purchased. It starts whenever you decide to use it and if there is currently an active subscription it extends it 12 months.
