It can be use with WIFI but if you connected it with the Ethel cord, it seems to be just a little faster. However that all depends on your Internet provider and what speed you have. And I dont believe you need xbox gold to play your Fornite game however nothing will be save (winning records) and you may not buy any perks until you have xbox gold. But at least you enjoy playing the game
