As of 2018, FRS that are 3 watts or less don't require an FCC license.

The X Talker T71 is an FRS radio. NO FCC LICENSE IS REQUIRED. The Best Buy description is wrong. GMRS radios do require an FCC license, $35/10 years for the whole family.

These radios have been reclassified as FRS radios, as they transmit on 2 watts of power or less. You do NOT need a license to buy, or use these radios.
