Once you purchase the card, it is already activated for use on the computer. You'll need to redeem it on the computer after purchase, and there is no additional charge to activate it. Best advice is to make sure you have enough RAM on your computer to run the game properly.

I purchased one of these a few years back and gave it to my son for his birthday and just purchased one this past December and we gave it to my nephew for Christmas. The more important thing to keep in mind is that there are 2 different types of these cards as there are 2 different types of games. This particular card is for Java Minecraft, which is the original. The other kind of card which I believe will say "Windows 10" on the top of it and costs $29.99 is for the newer Bedrock Minecraft. If you are purchasing this as a gift for someone that wants to play with their friends, they need to know which kind of Minecraft their friends are playing on.
