You can play in creative or survival mode, but not at the same time. Just create a new world and select the mode you want it to be. You can't change it after you start, but you can have as many worlds as you want to create.

You can do survival or creative.

You can only play in one realm at a time. So if you are in survival mode, you would have to save game and log out to enter into creative mode. You can’t play both at the same time. Hope this helps!!
