If you buy from Mint Mobile, you must activate within 45 days. If you buy from Best Buy, you have much longer to activate since it is based on the expiration date on the SIM card which was almost 2 years in my case but I activated within 45 days of purchase since that was what I needed to do anyway. The outside says to activate within 45 days of purchase but the actual expiration date of the SIM card is much longer since Mint Mobile does not know when the SIM card will be sold by Best Buy.
