• You get better results if it outside, but it does work in the attic.

• Insulation isn’t a problem whatsoever. You will have a problem if roof sheathing has radiant barrier.

• As long as you don't have a metal roof, radiant heat shields or any metals in your attic that may block the signals it should work fine. Roof mounts are almost always better but attic placements work well also.
