If the only location you are storing them is locally in your house, even on multiple drives, you risk loss in a fire, etc. Best bet in that case is nearline such as this, with RAID backup to mirror drive, with offsite or cloud storage in the event of a local disaster. There are many fine commercial options for this, or you could set up a second storage site at another location as I do.

Monument helps you create two copies using the backup disk which mirrors the primary drive. The third backup is recommended to be off-site. Currently, Monument does not offer off-site backups.
