When charging, it does not matter what position the switch is in as it "Smart Charges" itself and the phone. You can only use a micro usb charge cable with the case, not the lightning cable from Apple.

You can also charge your phone and your mophie juice pack simultaneously by simply plugging the micro USB into the charging case and ensuring the switch is in the off position. For charging the mophie juice pack alone, i've found that putting the button in the middle (so part of the green circle and part of the red circle show) to be most effective.

The way the charging works is that it will charge your phone first and then charge the case. This is not compatible with lightning cables. You need a micro USB, which is included.

Please try again later.The switch should be to the right with the red dot showing , and it should stay that way until u need the extra charge , then you switch to the left where the green will appear. It comes with its own charging chord , the iPhone charging chord is not compatible with the mophie juice pack.
