I was advised by a Cox service rep o buy the combination product. After minimal research I bought this product. Several months later no issues. Not a tech maven or guru.Just someone who is happy when things work and so far I’m happy

I debated this when looking to purchase a replacement. I have not had any issues with it having the built in router.
Depending on where you place this unit. Your Wifi signal could be affected but other than that it has worked great for me.
