Yes. The pop us and you can read them. You will get a "flag" to see its a text from who, then you can swipe up to read the message. You cannot reply to them from the watch....yet. The only way to reply to the text is to create a new one to that person. This is an issue if it is a group text. I'm sure a future software update will fix that.
