• Yes, you do. Apparently they setup internal "kickback" contracts with the carriers to be able to afford the discount. I suggest Going with Sprint Unlimited Kickstart for only 25$ a month.

• To get the better price I activated right then. When I picked up phone they did the transfer of data and finished the activation
