It can make calls on all US carrier frequencies; however, providers are scheduled to be shutting down 2G networks across the country in near future. 3G networks, and those with LTE support (ie, 4G), will soon be all that is available by mistake carriers.

A phone that has LTE automatically has 2-4G. This is however only partially compatible with T-mobile. so in some places you will get a lower bar than with some other phones on the same network. I use T-mobile, haven't had issues.
