• Hello, No this mount does not allow to drop below the base of the mount.

• The monitor itself will lower below a significant amount arm I'd say you may be able to get 5". I bolt mounted mine through a desks back riser and I use mine in a similar fashion with zero issues other than the monitor bottom hitting the desk.
